## Songs of the Deep “Songs”
Note on names:
Many who survived [[The Hard Winter]] aboard the ferry chose names for themselves that remind them of something positive or notable. It has developed into a tradition among many of the [[28 Years Later#The Water Singers|Water Singers]] to adopt names like this.

**Role in the community**: Songs is a adapted [[28 Years Later#The Water Singers|Water Singer]] who developed gills, webbed fingers and toes, and tough whale-like skin. He’s deeply connected to the seas around Renewal Point, and can often be found mending fishing vessels, laying and retrieving crab pots, and exploring the shipwrecks. He’s convinced that the resident orcas are trying to communicate with the community, though he has not been able to make contact. He is also a skilled boat maker and navigator, and he is an integral part of the community's small fleet.
Songs loves tea, and particularly green teas, when they can be found.
**Family**: Songs lost his biological family on the ferry in the Quiet Year, but he has made a small found family in Renewal Point. He is also deeply connected to the other [[28 Years Later#The Water Singers|Water Singers]] and spends much of his free time tending to the docked ferry and performing small services for those who seek spiritual guidance.
